Which to choose
- Temperature. The Breville Bambino has PID temperature control (steadier shot-to-shot consistency); the Smeg ECF02 does not.
- Pre-infusion. Only the Breville Bambino pre-infuses (gentler shot start, better extraction on lighter roasts).
- Portafilter — accessories don't transfer. The Breville Bambino takes a 54mm portafilter and the Smeg ECF02 a 51mm, so tampers, bottomless portafilters and baskets bought for one won't fit the other.
Which one should you buy?
- Pick the Breville Bambino if you want PID temperature control for shot-to-shot consistency; or if you want pre-infusion for a gentler shot start on lighter roasts.
